Has anyone's cat had a problem like this?

One of our former shelter kitties has developed a problem. The owners took him to the vet, but the x-rays showed nothing out of the ordinary and the vet couldn't find that there is anything wrong with him. He was prescribed some analgesics but they don't seem to do the trick. In the video link bellow you can see how Swifty loses the use of his hind legs. That happens only when he comes back from being let outside and even then not every time. When he is inside only, he walks and runs normally with his other two feline companions. He still runs around like crazy and seem to be fine most of the time, but his situation appears serious. Since vet visits are very stressful for Swifty they asked us if we have encountered anything similar. Since we haven't I am posting this on my blog.  If anyone has any suggestions on what may cause this, please, let me know.

Thank you.

Gosh, that needs second opinions. try sending the video to online vet sites..or ask your vet to so the same ie send the video to specialists in veterinary neurology.

Oh gosh...I had to stop watching! This looks serious, but I have never seen something like this! Perhaps there is something with his ears which disturbes the sense of balance?
Sorry I can not really help....
Hugs,
Martina

We can't watch it because our mommy starts getting leaky too easy (she's a wuss) but we hope he gets better soon!

The good thing is that he doesn't seem to be in obvious pain. Could it have something to do with his nerves? Think there are some safe supplements to support the nerves that may help. Also, do you have access to an animal acupuncturist where you are?

I did some reading and it does sound like it may be due to some nerve damage (doesn't show up on xrays). Which could be due to an injury caused by an accident or even an injection gone wrong.

Oh, that is so sad. We agree with Whisppy ... it kind of looks like a nerve issue. We are purring and praying the vets can figure it out soon.

I wish I could help but I am sending good thoughts for him and hope they can figure out what's going on.

huh.....we are new here, but mom wonders if they have tested him for lyme disease. it is odd that it is only when he comes back inside. do you live near a large city that might have a university with a vet school? they may take the case just as it is unusual (or they may have other ideas).
