Meet Jacques

I am sorry I let my hubby talk me out of fostering kittens before and I am now only "allowed" to bring home one at a time (for now) but I am loving every minute of it.  Because I can only take one, I take some that need extra care and it's preferable to separate them from the others. Hubby even helps with medicine administering! Because even if they are tiny like Samba was, it is safer to have more than 2 hands when playing nurse (and sometimes it's me who would need a nurse afterward). I am sure some of the cat owners can relate :).  The shelter is full but we still take in 1 or 2 kittens a day. It's holidays time, not so many get adopted. So... meet Jacques:

As you can see, he is suffering from a severe eye infection. The left eye is on its mend (even if it doesn't look like) and he is on antibiotics + antibiotic cream. He's a lap cat, the gentlest I ever held! He's also a bit camera shy. His appetite is good, he's fever free. I went to the pet shop and bought a small dog crate so he can be more comfortable. He is already reserved for a couple who will adopt another kitten from out shelter so I'll have him just for around 10 days. I really hope he looks his best till then, just as when he was brought to the shelter with his 2 brothers, who are already in their new homes.

What a sweetie pie, and how sweet of you to care for cats that need more care.

Did he bring the eye infection with him or does the shelter need a major steam cleaning? Poor Jacques! So nice that you can care for him!

Sharon, the shelter would need some steam cleaning, but we work with what we have and we are just the 4 of us volunteers. Jacques's brother left the shelter healthy and his eyes got infected after a couple of days when he was in his new home. The vet said their mother wasn't cared properly, her immune system must have collapsed and the kittens have a bad immune system as well.

What a little bundle of sweetness! Here's hoping that his eyes clear up really quickly so he looks as handsome as can be for his new servants.

The photo on the pink blanket is just priceless! :))))
Keep up the good work, and I'll send some bandaids just in case... (for you, not the kitties, it pulls their fur....) :)))
