St Nicholas brought Čičo a new home

In Slovenia we celebrate the Saint Nicholas (Miklavž) Day on December 6. Unfortunately, it is not a non working day :) But it still is a very special day of gift-giving for children (and some adults, including my family and me). The weeks before are the time for Miklavž fairs or markets. The night before the Day of St. Nicholas, children put a shoe outside the door ( I used to put a big red plate on the kitchen table), hoping it will be filled with treasts of fruit, candies, coins, and small toys. Miklavž companion Parkel may leave coal or a stick for naughty children (I got one, too, many many years ago). Or more likely, a mix of both. As long as I have lived with my parents my Mum would always fill that red plate with chocolate and a small gift. It is a very special tradition that I cherish and that I brought with me to my new home. My hubby got a big chocolate and I got a chocolate teddy :) The kitties got a festive meal. I didn't forget my strays neither.

But Čičo... well, he got the best gift ever! A home of his own! Well, he will have to share it with her: meet Nephthys. The new humans adopted her from a shelter a few months ago, she is the same age as Čičo and they wanted her to have some furry company. The first encounter didn't go that well, but we are all hopeful they become best friends soon.

Enjoy your new home, Čičo... we miss you!
