We have over 40 kittens + a few adult cats at our shelter and it is just the 4 of us volunteers that take care of them. Nika is currently unemployed so she spends A LOT of time there - luckily. The 3 of us help as much as we can: that means we spend from 3-4 hours there almost every day. We want our kitties to have clean living quarters and their little stomachs always full. And there's of course the mandatory cuddling and playing with them. I know, it's a hard job but somebody's got to do it :). It will be another 2 weeks before most of them are ready to go to their new homes and thankfully 95% of them already have guaranteed homes as we "advertised" all the kitties on Facebook to ensure the best of adoptions. Are you ready to see how our little furballs look like? Here they are!
But there's no good without the bad.... we lost 4 kitties: one was so tiny and a little bit deformed, that he didn't survive the first night at the shelter. He and his siblings weren't more than a week old. We found a surrogate mother for the siblings and they are doing fine so far. Then we lost two little orange kitties in one night: one was Hercules - he was the smallest kitten I have ever seen that ate on his own, cleaned him self all over and was as cuddly as he could be. The other was Salsa (they were not related but the same cat took them in when they were brought to us) - a cute little cherub, full of life, a climber at heart. We don't know why they died but it broke our hearts. The last to go was little Pupa - she died in her new home, and we, again, don't know why. Rest in peace, little angels.

Salsa's sister, Samba, hurt her eye... we assumed it was from some rough playing with the bigger kittens. She need eye drops every 3 hours so I took her home with me, where I can provide her with more regular care. Here she is:

Her eye does look pretty bad but we are doing everything we can to help her. She eats well and is very playful. She is sleeping at the moment. That is the only time I can manage to do something else besides cuddling and playing with her. Honestly, could you resist her?
